Description
Volunteers of America Texas is a faith based, non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals, families and communities reach their full spiritual, emotional and physical potential and wellbeing through a vast array of services that target the elderly, the intellectually disabled, those striving to overcome substance abuse, and those transitioning from correctional centers.

Function: 

The Employment Specialist supervises the client's job development program within the Policies and Procedures of VOA-TX and the sponsoring agency.  No direct staff supervisory responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities:
 Supports Volunteers of America  - Texas mission and models the organization’s Code of Ethics.
1. Develops, implements, and supervises the job development program.
2. Conducts Job Readiness class to assist clients in obtaining and maintaining full-time, permanent employment.
3. Maintains client employment documentation and verification as required by sponsoring agencies.
4. Develops and maintains potential employment opportunities.
5. Establishes vocational and educational resources in the community; makes referrals as required or needed.
6. Ensures the timely collection of client fees (wages) and maintains appropriate documentation.
7. Submits accurate program reports in a timely manner.
8. Attends weekly client staffing meetings.
9. Conducts on-site employment visitations for clients as required.
10. Approves job search itineraries for clients on a daily basis.
11. Assumes on-call responsibilities as scheduled.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in a human services field plus two years transferable case management experience.

Other:

• Time commitment:
40+ Hours per week
Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends
• If driving for VOA-TX business:
MVR background check (good driving record)
Valid, Current Texas driver’s license
• Criminal background check
• Approval from BOP to work with Federal clients, if applicable
• Approval from TDCJ to work in TDCJ-funded programs, if applicable
